DD2.JZ – “Design concept becomes reality”

New paint, new look

The day many have been waiting for has finally arrived: the DD2.JZ gets its new unique design. Knud Tiroch from the Hotrod Hangar will be there to make sure everything runs smoothly during painting.

Design concept becomes reality

Unlike other painting techniques, which require the use of wrapping, the lettering on the DD2.JZ is directly spray-painted. For this Dominic takes care of all the templates.

The DD2.JZ was sanded, primed and ready to be painted in advance so that the technicians can start off immediately.

The masking paper is attached to the body with high-precision adhesive tape. Accuracy during working is essential for masking off premium paint.

Knud also attends and takes care of attaching and covering the accent lines, which are painted in red.

Both on the front and on the rear bar color accents are set, so that the massive and wide appearance of the vehicle is underlined.

Inspired by the tiger design, Dominic and Christian were having lunch with Knud. He sketched a draft on a sheet of paper and was able to convince the two immediately. In order to implement the design, they must tactically proceed with the use of tapes in order to maintain the symmetry of the DD2.JZ.

Immediately Knud gets to work and paints the DD2.JZ with his spray gun in Takata green.

The paint dries quickly, which gives Dominic the opportunity to begin carefully with the removal of the adhesive tapes.

In the final step, two coats of clear coat are applied to protect the fresh paint and to make the carbon shine. Another exciting day of the DD2.JZ project comes to an end and soon the finished DD2.JZ can be presented.
