Custom work requires time and tact
In this part of the DD2.JZ series, Christian and Dominic meet again in their workshop to continue the progress on vehicle design. This time it’s the turn of the center console, which still needs to be adapted to the new flyoff handbrake and gear selector.
The two start with the preparation of a template made of cardboard true to the original.
In the next step, the template is taken and held up in the interior of the vehicle. As a result, the two can mark all areas which still need to be reworked directly on the cardboard.
Without hesitating, Christian then uses an air saw to carefully cut out all marked areas.
All recesses for the flyoff handbrake are now cut out accurate to a millimeter.
The two close all ugly holes with a custom made sheet. Now the upholsterer can cover the interior space with Alcantara.
