The DD2.JZ is back on track!
This week the DD2.JZ finally leaves the garage and goes onto the race track, because the second test drive is coming up. For now, however, Christian and Daniel have to make some preparations for the vehicle itself.
They are starting off by checking all screw connections. All seemingly loose screws are tightened again for safety.
After the check on the roll cage, the bucket seats and all liquids the journey to the race track can finally start. Without hesitation, the two load up the DD2.JZ on the provided car trailer to make their way to the circuit.
Only a few minutes pass until the car is ready to go after the arrival at the PS Racing Center Greinbach. The helmets and the racing gloves are put on and the 2JZ GTE engine brought up to operating temperature. The car is ready to go.
In order to simulate a realistic environment, the two technicians have deliberately opted for the racetrack where the annual “King of Europe” drift series takes place. The tires are able to withstand the first few laps easily, but the brute force of the DD2.JZ soon resulted in the end of the left rear tire. A pit stop is inserted to attach the spare tires.
The vehicle bears up a few more intensive rounds, but then the testing has to be canceled. The ride is stopped due to the failed power steering and suspiciously rising smoke from the engine compartment. After a brief look under the hood, the two also know why: the front end alternator belt is torn whereby neither servo nor water pump are powered.
Thus, the second day of testing in Greinbach unfortunately ends prematurely after the mentioned defects. However, the day was not wasted, as many valuable impressions could be internalized. Except for these little shortcomings, the DD2.JZ seems ready for the track and will be able to drive there again very soon.
